Finding a Job in 20231 min read

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey Job Seekers, finding a job in 2023 is much different than it used to be. I understand the search right now is challenging, because I’m currently in that search.

๐Ÿคจ The Problem:

I’ve been applying to jobs for 3mo. since being laid off this year in March 2023. In my search, I’ve met multiple individuals who’ve been searching for 6mo and even 8mo for their next role. These are well-qualified CSMs, Directors, and Executives with 15+ years of experience.

Yesterday, one friend of mine who worked 55+ hours a week for her job was let go in a heartbeat by her employer. I was especially shocked by this, given the amount of commitment and dedication she put into her job.

๐Ÿ‘€ I’ve seen companies let go of employees so fast as if the employee were a software subscription that cost too much money, without consideration for how they’ve dedicated much of their waking hours to the business to support themselves and their families.

I believe employees could be treated better when let go and companies could use their resources to help those employees find their next role.

โœ… My solution:

What I can do is at least provide the same strategies I’ve used in my job search to help others. Over the 3 months I have been searching for a job I created a job search strategy that helped yield some good results.

With this strategy, I have:
10% of jobs applied for received a first-round interview.
33% of those first-round interviews go to the second round.
75% of those second-round interviews go to the third round.

I hope to be useful however I can. Friends have reached out to help me with connecting to hiring managers and doing mock interviews. I’m happy to do the same.

Here’s the strategy.
